What should candidates know before applying for a job?

Everyone knows that getting a good company to work for and a good candidate is a challenge for both candidates and recruiters. The demand is very high from Businesses and supply is very less in Recruitment field. Once a recruiter posts a job on a job platform or social media, recruiters get bombarded with a lot of profiles who have applied for the job position and it’s really time-consuming process to go through each resume, screen those resumes and use different types of filter & find out the perfect match for the job position. Out of those profiles, the recruiters get a hand full of matching profiles for whom they want to talk.

The actual productivity of recruiters starts when they start talking to potential candidates who are matching with the job requirement. When recruiters start talking to the candidates and they get very common responses of the reason for a job change. Due to drastic changes in digitalization, candidates are applying for jobs like they are using Tinder App. So, it’s quite confusing for recruiters to know who is a genuine candidate.

Nowadays, candidates are not even aware of which company they have applied for a job. Candidates are not bothered about anything, they just want to apply for the job, THAT’S IT! Candidates even get confused about who is following up with me, from which company the recruiter is.

Whoever is reading this blog, will get good insights and will definitely help in the future.

The candidate should keep the below points in mind before applying for the job,

  • The candidate should research about a company like an establishment date, founder of the company, leadership team, employee count, vision of the company, role & responsibilities of the job, company type, company culture so on and so forth.
  • The candidate should know whether my profile is suitable for the job requirement or not.
  • The candidate should clear the WHY he/she applying for the job for a particular company.
  • The candidate should know the goals of the company.
  • The candidate should discuss & solve all your queries in the initial screening discussion with the recruiter.
  • The candidate should know the services of the company if it’s a service-based company.
  • The candidate should know the products of the company if it's a product-based company.
  • The candidate should be clear about the nature of the job (permanent/contract/short term)

Once the above points are very clear with the candidates, recruiters will spend less time in finding out matching profiles, candidates will not back out, offer to join ratio would increase.

Bottom line- For Recruiters, we need candidates who should join the company.
