Candidate Engagement

For Recruiters, candidate engagement is very very important, it plays a vital role for candidates to decide about the opportunity.

The recruiter should keep the below points in mind before calling the candidates:-

  • Every screened candidate is a new prospect and potential employee for the company.
  • Every potential candidate would be the face of the company after joining.
  • Every potential hire would start contributing towards the companies success.
  • Every caliber candidate has the potential to compete with other people and become an extraordinary person.
  • Every recruiter should know that no one is excellent and the recruiter should stop expecting that we would be able to find out what we are looking for.
  • Every recruiter should keep only 1 thing in mind i.e I would be able to utilize the best out of the conversation from the candidate.

Recruiter points

  • The recruiter should make sure that the initial screening should be very effective, elaborative, crisp & clear.
  • Every software engineer is in very high demand and companies are ready to pay any kind of salary to get the candidate on board.
  • Everyone is busy in their daily life, office work, personal work & personal life. So, both Recruiter & candidate needs to respect each other’s time.
  • The recruiter should prepare the plan before calling the candidate. So, a recruiter can get enough data in the initial discussion which would help in the later stages of interviews.
  • Recruiters need to make sure that the candidates should think & realize that “This company looks different than others.” in some or other way.

Recruiter & Candidate Engagement

  • The recruiter should find out the best suitable time for the candidate to connect and discuss the opportunity.
  • The recruiter should know that 2 follow-ups over the phone call and 1 SMS are sufficient for the very 1st initial call.
  • In the initial discussion with the candidate, the recruiter should ask about the aspiration of the candidate and why they are really looking for a job change.
  • The recruiter should greet and appreciate the candidate for taking out some time to discuss the opportunity. This creates a good rapport with the candidates.
  • Every Recruiter should not only have excellent communication skills but also listening skills. Rather, I would say listening skill is very important to compare to communication skill in the initial discussion with the candidate.
  • Every Recruiter should know that the very 1st impression would be the last impression.
  • The initial engagement with the candidate should be very crisp & clear, calm, polite and efficient.
  • At the end of the very 1st discussion with the candidate, appreciate the candidate again and close the discussion with a closing note & “have a wonderful day”
